Sangwani Munthali, an afro contemporary gospel artist who was inspired and mentored by Wambali, is scheduled to launch his new album “Ndipulumutseni” and a DVD of his previous project titled “Themba”.
AfterBICC the artist is expected to unveil the two inspirational-music-packaged projects in Blantyre at Robins Park on 28 May, before heading to Mzuzu for a show at Boma Park on 4th June.
While confirming the presence of Wambali at the Lilongwe launch, Sangwani expressed his happiness, saying sharing the stage with the legend Mtebeti was extraordinary.
“Wambali is an artist I have always been looking up to and it’s really a special thing and encouraging that he accepted to bless my launch with a special performance. It gives me that drive to get the best out of me,” explained Sangwani Munthali. “It is really extraordinary.”
Wambali last made a public performance in July 2015 when he launched his new album titled Calabrash Breath at the BICC. He returned to the stage having announced in 2013 that he had retired from public performances.
Sangwani Munthali’s “Ndipulumutseni” album and the “Themba” DVD were both produced in Namibia. Audio production was done by Namibian Derik Vilas, while the videos were directed by Majumi Gondwe alias Maj Beatz, a Malawian audio and video producer based in Windhoek.
Derik, who is also a sound engineer, arrived in the country a week ago ahead of the album launch.
Sangwani described the presence of the producer during the launch as vital because “it will bring in the spirit of excellence”.
“He is someone who created the sound and with him doing the sound engineering during the three shows, I guarantee Malawians the best sound and a show to remember, value for their money,” said the artist.
Tickets to the three shows started selling on Wednesday. In Lilongwe, tickets are selling at Crossroads Business Centre, Four Seasons (Chameleon) and Papaya Restaurant. VIP ticket prices are K10,000 while standard are going at K5,000.
In Blantyre, tickets are selling at Steers Debonairs, Word Alive Bookshop and Mugg & Bean at K6,000 for VIP and K3,000 standard.
