Giddes and the American tour team

A group of Malawians facilitating Giddes Chalamanda’s tour to the United States of America has called on well-wishers to financially support the trip. The song was recorded way back in the 60s. Knowing that this has been Chalamanda’s childhood dream, the group, consisting of young and vibrant Malawians calling themselves “friends of Gidde” have come together to solicit funds to make the musician’s fantasy a reality. It is also a way of appreciating Chalamanda’s achievement and contributions in the music industry. Apart from urging well-wishers to contribute, publicity secretary for the grouping, Emmanuel Maliro, said they are planning to organise fundraising music shows. “There’s a shortfall in our finances to fly him to the U.S. hence the fundraising shows because we want to explore all means possible to take Giddes to America,” said Maliro. According to Maliro, the veteran artist is expected to perform in Washington D.C on 6th July, 2016 before performing in Indiana days later. Chalamanda will travel alongside other artists including his managers Edgar Kachere and Davis Njobvu of the “Wazelezeka” fame, and the “Msati Mseke” hit maker Patience Namadingo, among others.
