No Busy Signal second show in Malawi

Jamaican highly rated dancehall artist, Busy Signal is not coming to Malawi, and not any time soon as earlier on promised by music icon Lucius Banda, Nyasa Times has established. [caption id="attachment_97128" align="alignright" width="442"] Busy Signal at Malawi Sand Music Festival[/caption] In January this year, Banda through his Facebook account revealed that Signal would perform in the country once again by public demand courtesy of Sand Music led by Banda himself. Banda on 7th January, 2016 on his Facebook account wrote: “By public demand (after Judy Boucher on Valentines 14 Feb), Busy Signal returns to Malawi with live band as usual!!! April end”. He did not state the date and venue of the concert. He added: “We are bringing Busy Signal by public demand and we started talking to him in December and he accepted”. Surprisingly with only a day to go before April ends, there is no sign of Busy Signal coming to Malawi; no pomp or flair heralding the much anticipated show. Banda does not answer his phone each time Nyasa Times contact him, but sources close to the veteran artist revealed that the show has silently been cancelled. “The show was slated for April end and was later on moved to early May due to Morgan Heritage’s show taking place this weekend. But on look of things, it will not happen because there is no any ground working in preparation for the show,” said the source. According to the source, the show was Busy Signal’s form of compensation to Banda who had been claiming that he made losses during the Jamaican dance-hall singer’s first show last year. Busy Signal stunned Malawians with a scintillating performance as a headliner of the 2015 Sunbird Sand Music Festival held at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima. “Lucius claims he made losses during the first show and Busy Signal agreed to compensate him by reducing his fees to perform for the second time in the country. But as it stands, he is not coming,’ added the source. The Signal’s second concert, according to Banda was part of raising funds for this year’s sand music festival. Last year prior to the Sand Music Festival controversy ensued when it Signal revealed he was not coming to Malawi as there was no contract, contradicting the show organizers who labored hard to clear the mist on the Jamaican expected performance in Malawi. However, the issue was resolved and Signal managed to come and perform in Malawi in a show that left patrons impressed and satisfied.
