Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro to launch debut album ‘Yahweh’ in September

As Malawi’s gospel music industry continues to grow, one of the promising new female artists – Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro is expected to launch her debut album titled ‘’Yahweh’’ in September this year. [caption id="attachment_93416" align="alignright" width="286"] Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro: ‘Yahweh’ launch in September[/caption] Confirming the development, the wife to veteran musician and now pastor Mlaka Maliro, said all is set for the launch and has promised Malawians to expect more from her, saying she has come to stay. ‘’Malawians should expect more from me as I have come here to stay with a new direction in gospel music’,’. Bernadetta Mlaka Maliro said. ‘’I would also like to thank Malawians for welcoming me in the industry because currently my songs are receiving an overwhelmingly support in various local radio stations,” she said. The gospel singer added that to ensure variety, she decided to do some of the songs with other artists including her husband – Mlaka Maliro and Ethel Kamwendo Banda. The artist said she titled the album ‘’Yahweh’’ as one way of appreciating what God has done to her life. “I decided to label the album Yahwe because of what the Lord has done to me, including giving me protection all the time, good family, wonderful kids, turning my husband into a powerful and anointed pastor and also becoming a member of parliament at the age of 25. All these give me joy hence naming my debut album after the Lord,” she highlighted. The 10-track album has a number of genres including reggae and tradition. She has however planned to organize a nationwide tour so as to give all Malawians an opportunity to witness and taste the launch, which will be spiced up by various gospel artists including Lucius Banda. Some of the songs in the album – like Kulibe, Sintheni, Ndinu Mfumu and Yahweh have already started enjoying massive airplay in various local radio stations.
