B’ella fundraiser premiere Wednesday: Egyptian ambassador guest of honour

B’ella, a Malawian movie written and directed by Tawonga Nkhonjera of Dikamawoko Arts, premiers at as part of fundraising for ‘Be’lla in Schools’ at Crossroads Auditorium in the capital Lilongwe on Wednesda with Maher El-Adawy – Ambassador of Egypt as guest of honour. [caption id="attachment_67485" align="alignright" width="574"]Part of action in B'ella Part of action in B'ella[/caption] Nkhonjera told Nyasa Times in an interview that ‘Be’lla in Schools’ is “a project where we intend to show the film to as many secondary schools as possible at no cost to the students.” Added Nkhonjera: “Our research shows that Lilongwe is not as familiar with Dikamawoko or the film Be’lla, so hopefully this event will generate some hype and interest so that when we host the public premiere we have a mass response.” He said next month they will be taking the movie to Mzuzu University (Mzuni) and Jacaranda Lifestyle for the same initiative. B'ella is a 105 minute story of a 17 year old girl living in Chazunda, in the outskirts of Blantyre, Malawi. The film explores B'ella's family relations, friendships, first loves and her interactions with classmates and teachers, especialy the Maths Teacher.
